Reddit is concentrating on boosting its presence in global markets such as the U.K., India, Brazil, and the Philippines to grow its user base.
As stated by the company’s COO, Jen Wong, more than 50% of Reddit’s user base is located outside the U.S., which she discussed in an interview with CNBC.
Wong highlighted India as a key market, mentioning that English-speaking users are actively engaging in conversations about topics like cricket and Bollywood.
“India is seeing substantial growth, and we recognize a significant opportunity there,” she remarked to the publication.
The company also aims to improve its translation features, with plans to expand its machine-learning-based translation service to over 30 countries by 2025, as announced by CEO Steve Huffman in October.
Even with this international strategy, the U.S. still accounts for 83% of Reddit’s total revenue, according to its third-quarter figures. Wong noted that the company plans to expand its local advertising efforts across various countries.
