Emerging boxing talent Curmel Moton had his scheduled bout against Bryan Mercado called off on Friday due to a MAJOR weight issue.
The boxer, who has the legendary Floyd Mayweather as his trainer, alarmingly weighed in a shocking 15 POUNDS over the limit.
The 18-year-old prospect boasts an outstanding 6-0 record since his professional debut in September on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo, but he was unable to maintain that momentum this weekend.
Hailing from Utah, the young fighter was slated to meet Mercado at a weight of 133 pounds in New Jersey, but ultimately came in at an astonishing 148.7 pounds.
This overwhelming weight discrepancy left spectators shocked during the weigh-in, marking it as one of the largest weight misses in boxing history.
Consequently, Moton was removed from the fight card due to the substantial weight difference.
Fans took to social media in droves, humorously poking fun at the rising boxer for his significant weight miss, whimsically attributing it to an extravagant Thanksgiving feast.
One comment read: “Wow, he really enjoyed that ultimate Thanksgiving dinner.”
Another user noted: “He didn’t appear to put much effort into making weight.”
A third joked: “His toughest opponent was cookies.”

After the weigh-in incident, Moton provided an explanation, citing complications with his blood tests as the reason he couldn’t compete.
On Instagram, he expressed: “I would like to sincerely apologize to all the fans who were excited to see me fight in Jersey.
“I’ve been in touch with the commission regarding my bloodwork clearance, but they misplaced my blood sample in their system [causing issues with the fight’s sanctioning].
“I discovered this problem three days ago, so I didn’t focus much on making weight.
“However, they insisted that I weigh in for some unknown reason, using that as a reason to cancel the fight.
“Regardless, I’ll be in Japan on December 30th. Looking forward to seeing you all there.”
