Boxing prodigy Curmel Moton saw his bout against Bryan Mercado canceled due to a SIGNIFICANT weight issue on Friday.
Moton, mentored by the iconic boxer Floyd Mayweather, shocked everyone by coming in a whopping 15 POUNDS over the required limit.
The 18-year-old boasts an impressive 6-0 record since going pro last September on the Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo undercard, but was unable to uphold that trend this weekend.
Originally from Utah, the young star was expected to fight Mercado at a weight of 133 pounds in New Jersey but instead weighed in at a staggering 148.7 pounds.
This considerable weight miss caused shockwaves at the weigh-in, cementing it as one of the most remarkable weight discrepancies in boxing history.
As a result, Moton was removed from the fight lineup due to the significant weight difference.
On social media, users had a field day poking fun at the rising talent for his enormous weight miss, playfully attributing it to a hearty Thanksgiving dinner.
One commenter joked: “Wow, bro went all out for his Thanksgiving feast.”
Another remarked: “He didn’t seem to even attempt to make weight.”
A third chimed in: “His biggest opponent was cookies.”

Following the weigh-in fiasco, Moton shared an explanation, mentioning complications with his bloodwork as the reason for the fight not happening.
On Instagram, he stated: “I apologize to all the fans who planned to be in New Jersey to watch me fight.

“I have been in touch with the commission about getting my bloodwork cleared, but they lost my blood sample in their system [making it hard for the fight to be approved].
“I’ve known about this issue for three days, so there was no reason to worry about making weight.
“Yet, they still insisted I weigh in for some reason and used that as the excuse for canceling the fight.
“Regardless, I’ll be back in Japan on December 30th. Excited to see all of you there.”
