Beau Greaves acknowledged that she continues to feel “vulnerable” to setbacks, even after making it through to the quarter-finals of the WDF World Darts Championship with success.
The 20-year-old has been the reigning women’s champion for the past two years, solidifying her status as the top player in the world.
She secured her place in the quarter-finals on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over Kirsi Viinikainen from Finland.
Although her advance to the next round was relatively smooth, Viinikainen put up a fight in the second set, coming close to a nine-darter with seven darts.
Last month, Greaves was one of just two women in the Grand Slam of Darts.
She managed a 5-1 triumph over Cameron Menzies, but faced losses against both Danny Noppert and Martin Schindler.
Despite her strong foothold in women’s darts, she maintains that she is not impervious to defeat.
Greaves remarked: “I participated in the Grand Slam and was able to secure a win.
“I performed reasonably well, but most female players are aware of my skills; that doesn’t mean I’m invincible. I often lose matches in the women’s series.
“I experience defeats, which leaves me feeling somewhat vulnerable.”

“Anything can occur at any time; you never know when players like Kirsi can surprise you with their performances.”
Greaves expressed her disappointment with her own performance, but recognized that the most important aspect is securing the win.
She commented: “I won, and that’s what matters, but I didn’t showcase my full capabilities. My darts were not up to par, and so forth.
“It’s frustrating to return and defend my title, and facing Kirsi was a tough start.
“However, I’m relieved she missed several doubles, and I’m pleased to walk away as the winner.”
