Tragic Shooting Claims Life of 13-Year-Old Boy in Delft

Residents of Delft are in disbelief after the brutal murder of a 13-year-old boy.

His lifeless body was discovered near Blikkiesdorp yesterday morning around 6 AM.

The boy’s face was covered in stab wounds, and he also had injuries to his stomach.

Jacky Ockhuizen, spokesperson for the Delft Community Policing Forum (CPF), reported that the boy appeared to have been restrained.

Ockhuizen mentioned: “At approximately 5:55 AM yesterday, we received a call from a passenger on their way to work in a taxi in Delft South, near the intersection of Sandelhout Street and Cocktree Road, who spotted what seemed to be a child lying in an open field.

“We promptly informed the police to commence an investigation.

“We can confirm that Delft SAPS located the body of a 13-year-old boy abandoned in the open field directly across from Tsunami in Delft South.

“It is probable that the boy was assaulted in a different location, as he displayed visible injuries on his face and stomach. It is clear that he was restrained at the arms.”

Ockhuizen stated that the motive behind this atrocious murder is still unknown.

He added: “Investigating officers are actively following leads regarding this case, even while the body remained at the location. The boy has not yet been identified.

“As leaders of CPF Delft, we vehemently denounce all forms of gender-based violence (GBV), child trafficking, child sexual abuse, and murders occurring in and around the Delft area.”

“We, as CPF, will convene an urgent meeting with the Delft station commander to advocate for increased police presence and law enforcement support, including more visible police patrols in and around Delft during this festive season to ensure the safety of residents.”

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that Delft detectives are investigating the murder case that arose from the discovery of the 13-year-old boy’s body on Tuesday.

He stated: “According to reports, SAPS members on duty responded to a complaint about a person lying in the field.

“Upon arrival, they found the teenager’s body lying on his back, with multiple injuries to his body and face.

“He was wearing blue jeans, a maroon t-shirt, and red All Star sneakers.

“The circumstances surrounding this tragic event are being investigated, and no arrests have been made yet. The motive is part of the ongoing police inquiry.”
