Randy Moss, the NFL Hall of Famer and ESPN analyst, is scaling back his live television roles due to health concerns.
Moss plays a crucial role on the panel for ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown.
The legendary wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings briefly mentioned his health concerns during the December 1 broadcast, following viewer worries about the yellow tint in his eyes.
“I ask everyone who prays to keep me and my family in your thoughts as we face these challenging times. I saw people commenting about my eyes last week,” Moss expressed.
“I’m dealing with something internal, and I am committed to overcoming this.
“I have a fantastic team of doctors and a supportive family surrounding me.”
Following this announcement, Moss opted to take a leave of absence from the show for an “extended period” to prioritize his health, as stated by ESPN.
“For nearly a decade, Randy has been a cherished member of the team, continually enhancing ‘Countdown’ with his knowledge and enthusiasm,” the network acknowledged in its statement.
“He has the complete support of ESPN, and we eagerly await his return when he is ready.”
NFL fans flooded social media with messages of encouragement for Moss, wishing him a swift recovery.
“We’re all praying for you, Randy!” one fan wrote.
“An NFL icon, wishing him a quick recovery and hoping to see him back on air soon!” a second fan added.
“Oh no. Wishing nothing but the best for Randy Moss!” a third fan commented.
“This is tough to witness. Sending prayers for Randy,” a fourth fan remarked.
