Durban – A woman in her 70s has sadly lost her life following a single-vehicle crash on the M13 en route to Durban, near Kings Avenue in Westville.
As reported by ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, the incident took place on Monday morning, just after 09:00.
“When paramedics arrived on the scene, they encountered a chaotic situation, as the vehicle had rolled several times and was left overturned,” Jamieson stated.
“Upon examining the scene, paramedics found that the driver, who was the sole occupant, was trapped in the wreckage.”
“Tragically, the woman, thought to be in her seventies, had sustained serious injuries, and despite paramedics’ best efforts, they could not save her. She was declared dead at the scene.”
Jamieson warned that the scene would remain active for some time.
“We urge drivers to exercise caution and slow down due to the current wet weather conditions,” he emphasized.
“It’s advisable to depart a bit earlier to ensure a safe arrival at your destination. Additionally, please check that your vehicle’s windscreen wipers and tyres are functioning properly.”
At this time, the circumstances leading to the accident are not clear, but officers from the SA Police Service were on-site.
