Senzo Meyiwa Murder Trial: Defence Attorney Thulani Mngomezulu Dies in Hospital

Johannesburg – Thulani Mngomezulu, a defense attorney linked to the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, has tragically passed away in the hospital.

The family spokesperson, Dumisile Mngomezulu, announced the news, expressing, “It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our beloved husband, father, and son.”

“We confirm that he unexpectedly died in the early hours of December 10, 2024, at Thelle Moroerane Hospital in Vosloorus.”

During the live television broadcast of the murder trial, Lawyer Mngomezulu became well-known to many viewers.

He was the legal representative for Muzikawukhulelwa “Muzi” Sibiya, the first accused in the ongoing case.

Since November 8, 2024, Mngomezulu had been missing from court due to health complications.

“In this time of mourning, we kindly ask for your understanding, space, and time as we come together as a family to make decisions for the future,” said the family spokesperson.

“We appreciate your love and support in advance, and we request that you keep us in your prayers.”

Social media users were quick to remind their followers that trial Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng had previously suggested that the ailing Lawyer Mngomezulu might be avoiding his court responsibilities.
