MKP’s Development Year

This gala dinner is set to take place after the rally at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Sunday, celebrating the MK Party’s notable achievements since its founding by Zuma in December 2023.

Within a year, the party has established itself as the third-largest in South Africa and has assumed the role of the official opposition in Parliament. Its strongest voter base lies in KwaZulu-Natal, where it secured the majority vote in the province during the May general elections.

Shivambu elaborated on strict measures to ensure the event prioritizes provincial attendees from KwaZulu-Natal. “We have organized transportation for all 11 regions within KwaZulu-Natal as well as 44 municipalities,” he explained, noting that free trains from kwaMashu, Cato Ridge, and uMlazi will be available.

However, transportation will not be available for attendees from other provinces. “Those who wish to attend at their own cost are welcome,” Shivambu remarked.

Engaging the Progressive Caucus

The party has sent invitations to its allies within the parliamentary progressive caucus, including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), African Transformation Movement (ATM), and African Unity Congress (AUC), allowing them to express messages of support during the occasion.

Shivambu emphasized the event’s significance, stating, “This anniversary rally and gala dinner mark the first step on our journey towards enduring growth and unity.”
