AMAD DIALLO left Manchester City in disbelief as he turned the tide in the derby.
The agile winger secured a pivotal penalty, which Bruno Fernandes coolly converted in the final moments to level the score.
However, the true highlight was when Amad skillfully flicked the ball past an advancing Ederson and remarkably slotted home a dramatic winner from a tight angle deep into injury time.
Here’s how SunSport’s Neil Custis rated the Man Utd players…
Andre Onana – 6
He does not instill great confidence; his command in the area is questionable, and as seen midweek in Plzen, his distribution can often benefit the opposition.
Nevertheless, he faced minimal challenges.
Lisandro Martinez – 7
Showed a more composed presence under Amorim than previously, when he embraced his Ajax nickname ‘The Butcher of Amsterdam’.
Delivered an excellent through ball at the end that set up Amad’s decisive goal.
Harry Maguire – 8
Had an outstanding duel with Erling Haaland, coming out on top.
Reinstating the former captain for such an important match proved to be a shrewd move. He seems well-equipped to play centrally in that back three.
Matthijs de Ligt 78′ – 7
Produced a solid performance. Appeared more at ease alongside Maguire than with other center-back partners.
Diogo Dalot – 5
Misjudged his jump, allowing Josko Gvardiol to head in City’s first goal. Did not make a significant contribution in attack as a wing-back.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Missed a crucial opportunity after being set up by Hojlund, shooting wide.
However, he displayed great composure when awarded a penalty, sending Ederson the wrong way to equalize.
Manuel Ugarte – 7
Positioned himself effectively in front of the back four, successfully countering much of Phil Foden’s contributions for City.
Noussair Mazraoui 78′ – 8
Was the standout performer among the summer signings. Played as the right wing-back this time, showcasing his versatility in various roles. One of United’s top players that day.
Mason Mount 13′ – 6
Looked visibly distressed after his early exit from the game. He has dealt with ongoing injury issues and has yet to find consistent form since joining the club.
Amad Diallo 90′ – 9
Created the most unforgettable moment of his career to date with a stunning derby winner. He made an impressive run to meet Martinez’s pass, lifted it over Ederson, and despite a slightly scuffed finish, it found the target.
Almost scored earlier with a flick header that was well saved by Ederson.
He also reacted quickly to Nunes’ back pass, which led to the penalty resulting in United’s equalizer.
Rasmus Hojlund 78′ – 6
His contributions mainly involved a head-to-head exchange with Walker and a minor tumble while seeking a penalty.
Yet, he made an excellent pass to Fernandes, which should have resulted in an equalizer.
Subs
Kobbie Mainoo 13′ – 6
Performed well in a deeper role after replacing Mount, providing support as Fernandes advanced.
Joshua Zirkzee 78′ – 6
Not a game-changer, but skillfully maintained possession as the match drew to a close.
Antony 78′ – 6
Attempted to make an impact but appeared to lack confidence due to limited playing time.
Leny Yoro 78′ – 6
Continues to work towards regaining full fitness after an injury earlier in the summer.
Victor Lindelof 90′ – 6
Had no opportunity to make a notable impact on the match.
