Pretoria – The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant is currently shut down, leading to interruptions in water supply across several areas in Region 7, as reported by the City of Tshwane.
“The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant remains offline due to deteriorating raw water quality, which has become cloudy following recent heavy rainfall,” the City of Tshwane stated in a notice released on Wednesday, (18 December 2024).
“Our technicians are closely monitoring the situation, and we will resume operations as soon as the water quality returns to acceptable levels.”
The City of Tshwane has outlined the following affected areas in Region 7:
- Bronkhorstspruit Town
- Ekandustria
- Ekangala
- Rethabiseng
- Riamarpark
- Zithobeni
- Thembisile Hani Local Municipality (cross-border water supply)
The City of Tshwane mentioned: “Water tankers will be dispatched to serve all affected areas.”
“The City of Tshwane apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this temporary shutdown.”
