
Mamelodi Sundowns has announced that it is probing allegations of misconduct involving head coach Jerry Tshabalala of the women’s team. During the course of this investigation, the club has placed Tshabalala on special leave.
In order to conduct a comprehensive and unbiased inquiry, Sundowns has engaged the law firm Bowmans to act as independent investigators.
“Mamelodi Sundowns has received allegations of improper behavior made by several female players against head coach Jerry Tshabalala of its Ladies Team,” the club stated in a release on Saturday.
“Mamelodi Sundowns has appointed a leading law firm to investigate the misconduct allegations against its Ladies Team coach, Jerry Tshabalala,” the club revealed on Saturday.
“Mamelodi Sundowns takes these allegations very seriously and has tasked Bowmans with examining the claims and reporting back to the Board promptly. In the meantime, Coach Jerry Tshabalala has been placed on special leave while the investigation is ongoing. This decision aims to uphold the integrity of the inquiry while safeguarding the rights of all parties involved.
If the inquiry uncovers any incriminating evidence, the Board will respond swiftly and appropriately. Mamelodi Sundowns plans to disclose the findings of the investigation and any resulting actions in due course.
This situation arises as the Sundowns Ladies team has faced disappointment in the Women’s CAF Champions League, despite securing the league title this season.
