Molemole – In a tragic incident, seven people have perished in a catastrophic multi-vehicle collision involving several cars on the N1 road, close to Ga Phasha village in the Molemole Municipality of the Capricorn District, Limpopo.
A minibus taxi filled with passengers was included in the seven vehicles involved in the crash on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety reported: “Seven lives were sadly lost at the scene, and five additional individuals suffered injuries. The injured were taken to a hospital for medical care.”
Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Violet Mathye expressed her profound sadness regarding the “horrific accident that occurred in the early hours of the morning.”
Following this unfortunate occurrence, the road at Ga Phasa village has been shut down.
Motorists are urged to find alternative routes.
The investigation into the cause of the multi-vehicle accident is ongoing.
On behalf of the department and the larger Limpopo community, she “extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and their loved ones.”
She also stressed, “Road safety is a collective responsibility for everyone.”
