Recently surfaced footage highlights the intense confrontation between Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez and Jack Grealish during their dramatic encounter in the tunnel.
Grealish made his return to Villa Park for the first time since departing his boyhood club in 2021, as Pep Guardiola fought to improve the team’s performance.
Manchester City suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, with goals from Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers.
As halftime approached, tensions rose when Grealish showed his frustration over the minimal added time indicated.
This led to a confrontation with his ex-teammate Martinez in the tunnel.
New footage reveals Martinez confronting Grealish, saying, “You think you’re a big boy, huh?”
Referee Peter Bankes issued a yellow card to the goalkeeper for his role in the dispute.
Grealish received jeers from Villa fans, who once celebrated him before his £100million move to City.
The former Villa captain lost his composure and responded to the crowd by holding up three fingers – likely a nod to his Treble-winning campaign or the titles he has achieved.
Football legend Michael Owen came to Grealish’s defense on social media, criticizing the fans who booed him.

Owen tweeted: “Football can often be frustrating, and I know most fans share that sentiment at times.
“It’s perfectly normal to feel such emotions when you have a deep love for something, as football has been my lifelong passion.
“Throughout life, you will meet kind and generous individuals as well as hostile and bitter people.
“Your profession or background does not determine your character.
“To the Villa supporters who booed Jack Grealish yesterday, you belong to the latter group and should be ashamed.”
Grealish dedicated eight years to Villa, tallying 32 goals in 213 games.
Since joining City, he has scored 14 goals in 143 matches and holds a Champions League winners’ medal.
However, this season has been challenging for him as City struggles, with Grealish failing to score in 18 appearances.
There are growing rumors he may seek a transfer to find his form again.
