Police Rescue Kidnapped Pakistani Businessman in Sebokeng; Female Suspect Arrested

Johannesburg – Authorities have successfully rescued a kidnapped Pakistani businessman and arrested a 46-year-old woman in Sebokeng, Gauteng.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk reported that the woman faces charges of murder and kidnapping and was taken into custody on Monday, December 23, 2024.

Initial investigations suggest that three men in a BMW X5 abducted the businessman in Lenasia just over two months prior.

Following the abduction, a ransom was demanded for the victim’s safe return.

Through diligent investigation, police acted on tips concerning the suspects’ location in Sebokeng.

“A search of the identified site led the team to find the victim locked in one of the rooms,” said Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk.

She also noted that an unidentified male’s body was found at the location.

“A female suspect was subsequently arrested at the scene,” added Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk.

“Police recovered two mobile phones from the site, which will play a crucial role in the ongoing investigations; further arrests are likely.”

The detained suspect is expected to appear in court shortly.

Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk urged the community to report any abductions of relatives or friends immediately to their nearest police station or to contact the SAPS Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111.
