Johannesburg – The police officer responsible for the fatal shooting of a soccer fan from Protea Glen, Soweto, on Boxing Day has been taken into custody.
After the tragic event, the officer, who works with the Railway Protection and Security Services at Park Station in Johannesburg, failed to report for duty and has been missing since.

However, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) confirmed that the wanted constable was found in Atteridgeville, Tshwane, and was arrested shortly after 17:00 on Friday, (17 December 2024).
According to IPID, the officer, now facing murder charges, is scheduled to appear at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday, (30 December 2024).
“The weapon involved in the murder will also be forwarded to the Forensic Laboratory for analysis,” IPID reported.
