A DARTS player was quickly rushed to the hospital on Christmas Day after injuring his finger while slicing a ham.
Jermaine Wattimena faced a challenging lead-up to his second-round match against two-time champion Peter Wright.
The Dutch player achieved a significant win by knocking out James Wade in the second round, taking a short break from the oche during Christmas.
Unfortunately, he had an accident while preparing ham for his holiday meal, resulting in a cut on his finger.
Wattimena received medical attention for the injury and was later seen on stage adorned with a bandage on his injured finger.
Sky Sports commentator Glen Durrant shared insights regarding Wattimena’s situation, stating:
“Jermaine Wattimena had quite a tough few days.
“While relishing his Christmas dinner, he cut his finger on his non-throwing hand while carving the ham, which led to a trip to the hospital.”
Wright, his opponent, also faced hurdles in the days prior to their match.
The 54-year-old was laid up on his sofa due to illness and had to pause his throw multiple times to cough.

Despite these obstacles, it did not impact his performance, as he demonstrated his abilities, bouncing back to impressive form after a tough year.
Wright achieved his highest average since securing the World Darts Championship title in 2022, maintaining dominance throughout the match, even as Wattimena narrowed the score to 3-2.
