The Placepot involves selecting a horse to finish among the top SIX positions across the first six races of any event.
You may select multiple horses in a single race—just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your total stake. For example, 2x2x2x1x2x2 equals 32 lines.
Your stake can start at 5p per line, leading to a total of £1.60. At 10p per line, it would total £3.20, and so on. As long as at least one selection from each race finishes in the top positions, you will receive a payout!

Cheltenham New Year’s Day Placepot tips – Wednesday, January 1
LEG 1: Kalif Du Berlais, Vincenzo, Tedley
In this three-horse race, it’s essential to select the winner to keep the Placepot alive. All contenders are closely matched, so be sure to include all three in your choices.
LEG 2: Diva Luna
DIVA LUNA delivered a strong performance to win the prestigious mares’ bumper at Aintree during the Grand National meeting in April. It was disappointing to see her lose when she was the favorite on her hurdles debut at Lingfield last time. She ran well, appearing to come back from a break, but faded late. The distance increase seems sensible, and she benefits from a 7lb allowance against her rivals today.
LEG 3: Broadway Boy, Cloudy Glen
BROADWAY BOY is set for a well-deserved win this season. He finished a solid third in a tough handicap here in October and then achieved a fantastic second in the Coral Hennessy at Newbury last time. A 2lb increase for that effort seems fair, especially considering his preference for this trip and track.
CLOUDY GLEN found his form with a win at Haydock last month. Running off a career-high rating now, he remains a strong representative of the successful Venetia Williams yard.
LEG 4: Springwell Bay, Lisnamult Lad
SPRINGWELL BAY has improved with each of his three chase outings, performing admirably behind a quality winner last time out here. This distance suits him well, and he has yet to disappoint at Cheltenham, indicating that there’s more to come from what seems a reasonable handicap mark.
LISNAMULT LAD won decisively here in October but fell at Navan last time. He is only 3lb above his last victory and could pose a threat if he can bounce back.
LEG 5: Deep Cave, Catch Him Derry
DEEP CAVE has had only a couple of outings for Christian Williams and showed progress by finishing fifth here last month. He had energy left and prefers good ground.
CATCH HIM DERRY performed under expectations at Haydock but could easily rebound.
LEG 6: Golden Ace, Langer Dan
GOLDEN ACE finished with a narrow margin in a Grade 2 at Ascot last month. She won the Dawn Run here last season, showcasing her affinity for this track while receiving a favorable weight allowance from her male competitors.
LANGER DAN is among the most celebrated hurdlers and narrowly missed out in a photo finish for a Grade 1 over a similar distance at Aintree in April following his Coral Cup triumph at the Festival. He showed signs of rust on his return and is expected to perform much better today.
