Veteran Coach Muhsin Ertugral Replaces Eric Tinkler at Cape Town City FC

Cape Town – The beleaguered Cape Town City football club has revealed a new coach following the departure of Eric Tinkler earlier this week.

In a message posted on X, Cape Town City expressed, “We are excited to announce the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as the Technical Director of the club.

“Muhsin arrives with extensive experience in both local and international football, having most recently served as the Technical Advisor for the Turkish national team for the last four years.

“He will assume the role of head coach for the remainder of the current season, joining first-team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama.”

Tinkler parted ways with Cape Town City on Tuesday, December 29, 2024, following the team’s fifth defeat of the season.

The decisive moment was the recent 0-1 loss against AmaZulu.

In announcing Tinkler’s departure, the club stated: “Cape Town City and head coach Eric Tinkler have mutually agreed to part ways.

“The club expresses its gratitude to Eric for three seasons, during which he earned 2nd, 4th, and 5th place finishes.

“We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

“An interim coach will be announced soon as we gear up for an exciting new project for the 25/26 season and beyond.”

Meanwhile, Magesi FC, currently languishing at the bottom of the Betway PSL, has appointed Owen da Gama as their new coach after Clinton Larsen stepped down last month (December 2024).

The winners of the Carling Knockout Cup, Magesi are currently in last place in the Betway PSL standings after 10 matches.
