Durban – A bus accident has occurred in the Ndwedwe area, situated north of Durban.
As reported by ALS Paramedics, they arrived at the scene of the bus crash in Ndwedwe on Saturday, (4 January 2025).
The bus was discovered flipped over on its side after the mishap.
“Currently, reports reveal that there are several injured individuals, and numerous ambulances are on-site,” stated Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics.
“Communication has been challenging due to the absence of cellphone service in the area.”
In reaction to the incident, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma stated: “One person has sadly lost their life, and 30 others have been injured in a bus accident involving members of the Nazaretha Baptist Church (Shembe Church).”
The MEC mentioned that a report from the Road Traffic Inspectorate indicated that the bus had caught fire.
The incident occurred on P100 in Ndwedwe.
“MEC Duma has assigned a specialized team to investigate the circumstances of the accident,” announced Ndabezinhle Sibiya, spokesperson for the Transport and Human Settlements Department.
“He also conveyed his condolences to the family of the deceased.”
