Following his triumph at the world championship, LUKE LITTLER chose not to respond to a reporter’s inquiry.
The 17-year-old defeated Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in last night’s final, etching his name in history as the youngest champion of the event.
The modest Littler has continually downplayed his skills, and after his Premier League win, he rejected the notion that he is the best darts player in the world.
He stated: “No. I don’t know [who], not me.”
During the press conference after receiving the Sid Waddell trophy, he was asked: “Will you now confirm if you are the best player in the world?”
Littler responded with a playful smile: “I won’t tell. I won’t say.”
“Statistically, I might be the best. But I’ll never claim it.”
Along with his world champion title, Littler also earned the Ballon d’Art award for hitting the most 180 scores at Ally Pally, totaling an impressive 76 across his six matches.
This is 20 more than Van Gerwen at second place and 33 more than third-placed Callan Rydz.

Additionally, in the PDC Order of Merit, which reflects earnings from ranking events over the last two years, Littler is positioned second, despite having been on the tour for only 12 months.
His World Championship achievement secured him a remarkable £500,000.
Littler’s total career earnings have now reached £1.5 million, with £1.2 million accumulated from ranking events.
Nonetheless, Luke Humphries still holds the top spot in the PDC Order of Merit with total earnings of £1.8 million.
Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, and Stephen Bunting complete the top five.
The most significant drop in the rankings was experienced by the 2023 world champion Michael Smith, who fell 14 places to 16th.
