Phoenix Group, listed in Abu Dhabi, is expanding its presence in the U.S. with the launch of a 50 MW crypto mining facility in North Dakota.
The company has inaugurated a 50 MW crypto mining site in North Dakota, reinforcing its strategy to enhance Bitcoin (BTC) mining operations across the U.S., as reported by Arabian Gulf Business Insight in a report.
Once operational, the facility is expected to contribute over 2.7 exahashes to Phoenix Group’s mining portfolio. Reza Nedjatian, CEO of Phoenix Mining, emphasized the significance of the U.S. market for the firm, considering the new site a crucial move in its investment plan. This expansion follows the earlier establishment of a 25 MW mining facility in Willamette, South Carolina, aimed at strengthening its U.S. footprint.
Established in 2017, Phoenix Group has emerged as the largest crypto mining operator in the MENA region, managing 765 MW of mining operations across the U.S., Canada, and the UAE. Additionally, the firm distributes MicroBT Bitcoin mining equipment in various countries, including Egypt, Turkey, and Kenya.
In October 2023, Phoenix Group made history by becoming the first private cryptocurrency and blockchain firm to be listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. Its initial public offering (IPO) secured $370 million, with requests exceeding the initial offering by 33 times. Retail investor interest was also remarkable, exceeding predictions by 180 times. Additionally, Phoenix Group aims to secure a dual listing on Nasdaq by 2025 in a bid to enhance its global reach, although the specific timeline remains uncertain.
