Singing Legend Winnie Khumalo Passes Away After Short Illness

Johannesburg – Celebrated music artist Winnie Khumalo has died at the age of 51 after reportedly battling a brief illness.

On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, a statement was issued announcing the tragic news, stating: “It is with deep sadness that Kalwa Jazmee Records confirms the passing of Winnie Khumalo.”

The announcement did not detail the reason for her passing, but emphasized: “A genuine icon, Winnie Khumalo made considerable contributions to the South African music scene, inspiring many with her remarkable voice and unforgettable performances.”

Nonetheless, several media sources reported that the artist lost her life to a short-term illness.

The statement went on to express: “Her passion, skill, and dedication to her craft have profoundly impacted the industry and the hearts of her fans.”

“We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and supporters during this difficult time.

“May Winnie Khumalo rest in peace.”
