Under the new leadership of Nasreddine Nabi, Kaizer Chiefs have utilized all three of their goalkeepers this season, raising significant concerns about their goalkeeping situation. in goal.
Meanwhile, Bruce Bvuma has voiced his concerns regarding the limited playing time with Amakhosi at the start of the current season.
This follows Bvuma’s role as the main goalkeeper towards the end of the 2023/24 season; however, doubts emerged about his position after Fiacre Ntwari joined from TS Galaxy during the transfer window.
Ntwari started in goal for the first seven matches of the season but conceded nine goals during that stretch.
He was shortly succeeded by Brandon Petersen, who also encountered difficulties, allowing five goals in three games, with his latest performance concluding in a 2-0 defeat against Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Coach Nabi eventually provided Bvuma with an opportunity in December against TS Galaxy, resulting in a 1-1 draw, along with a victory over Chippa United and a recent defeat to Cape Town City.
Despite the challenges Chiefs have encountered with their goalkeepers, Bvuma retains a positive perspective.
“I don’t see any issues with my limited starts; it’s just about the competition,” Bvuma remarked.
“The fight for a starting position in this team is always intense due to the presence of international goalkeepers.
“One player will get the chance, while others have to bide their time; that’s simply the nature of football.
“It’s not a problem at all; it centers around competition, and when someone gets the chance, we must support them.”
Bvuma and the Amakhosi are set to host Stellenbosch on Wednesday evening at FNB Stadium in a Betway Premiership clash.
The 29-year-old is optimistic that the Chiefs can secure all three points against the formidable side managed by Steve Barker.
“Our preparations have been thorough leading up to this match,” Bvuma stated.
“We just need to maintain that mentality and focus on our game plan. This strategy has caused them issues in the past.
“I genuinely believe that if we give our best, we will be able to handle any challenges that come our way.”
Amakhosi will be aiming for their first win of the year against Stellies.
