EDDIE HEARN has expressed skepticism about Tyson Fury’s stated retirement from boxing, featuring a knowing smile and a theory that suggests the situation may be more complicated than it appears.
Fury surprised fans with a retirement announcement on social media following his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
Yet, with a potential blockbuster bout against Anthony Joshua still on the horizon, Hearn posits that this ismerely a negotiation tactic.
In an interview on iFL TV, he remarked: “I expected this. If you intend to return and make the most of your earning potential, retiring first is a strategy, right?”
“Eventually, someone has to entice you out of retirement. So, if this truly marks the end for Tyson Fury, I wish him all the best.
“Although I have my personal doubts, I respect any decision he takes.”
Fury is known for announcing retirements only to return to the ring – having done this three times previously.
Yet, he mentioned in a recent video: “Hello everyone, I’ll keep this brief.
“I’m declaring my retirement from boxing. It has been an amazing journey, and I have cherished every moment.
“I’ll conclude with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everyone, and I’ll see you on the other side.”

At 36 years of age, Fury lost his WBC title and his unbeaten record to Usyk, 37, who made history as the first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion.
Following this, the Ukrainian vacated the IBF title to focus on his rematch, which he ultimately won by unanimous decision in December.
Frank Warren comments on Tyson Fury’s retirement and reflects on his favorite moments from the extraordinary career.
Meanwhile, Joshua, 35, faced a knockout defeat to Dubois, 27, in September, relinquishing the IBF title.
This situation has set the stage for AJ and Fury tofinally meet in a much-anticipated British showdown.
Hearn theorizes that both the allure of financial gain and a sense of ennui will eventually draw the charismatic Gypsy King back into the sport.
He stated: “I believe he will be eager to fight once again.
“I think he’ll feel bored and will recognize that the British public is eager for the AJ fight, so, in my view, we are likely to see him back in the ring. Otherwise, best of luck to him.”
