
Johannesburg—Candidates can obtain their National Senior Certificate (NSC) 2024 exam results starting this morning, Tuesday, (14 January 2025), at 8 a.m., at the school or center where they completed their exams.
The Department of Basic Education has emphasized that checking results at the exam venue remains one of the most reliable and secure methods.
Candidates also have the option to access their results online through the Department of Basic Education (DBE) website.
To retrieve the results:
- Have your examination number on hand.
- Ensure that your name and ID details are accurately reflected on your statement of results.
- Report any inaccuracies to the Department before February 12, 2025.
Gauteng Matric Results (GMR) app
- The Gauteng Department of e-Government has launched the GMR app, providing a secure and private way for users to check their results using smartphones and other digital devices.
- According to department spokesperson Neo Goba, this initiative enhances accessibility and transparency while ensuring the privacy of learners.
SMS and USSD services
Candidates can check their results via their cellphones using the following methods:
- SMS Method:
- Send your exam number to 35658.
- Each SMS costs R1.50.
- USSD Method:
- Dial *120*35658# and follow the instructions.
- USSD charges are 50c for every 20 seconds.
- Note that only one cellphone number can be associated with each exam number.
Important: These services are specifically for the NSC examinations administered by the DBE and do not apply to Independent Examinations Board (IEB) results.
