The Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday denied a renewed bail application from two suspects in the notable murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni and Lindokuhle Ndimande sought bail, citing their families’ financial and emotional difficulties due to their detention. They argued that since the State had completed its investigation, their continued detention was unwarranted, assuring the court that they would not interfere with witnesses.

Bail Decision
Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo dismissed their request, indicating that there was insufficient new evidence to warrant bail being granted.

Hlatshwayo stated, “The information available to me does not present anything new. The first accused has a history of witness tampering, and there is no strong evidence to indicate this behavior won’t recur.”
Extradition and Related Charges
The suspects also referenced the Ndimande brothers, Siyabonga Gezani and Malusi Dave, who are allegedly linked to the murders but are currently in Eswatini, resisting extradition to South Africa.
Gwabeni and Ndimande, together with Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande, face several charges including:
- Conspiracy to commit murder
- Murder
- Unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition
- Five counts of attempted murder
- Money laundering
The State alleges that Gwabeni orchestrated the murder scheme, receiving R800,000 and disbursing funds to his co-accused.
