
Middleburg – Exceptional matriculant Gugu Pioneer Libambo has been acknowledged as Mpumalanga’s leading Grade 12 student for the class of 2024, receiving a brand new Toyota Vitz as part of her recognition.
Gugu’s hard work, determination, and commitment to her education have been rewarded with this new vehicle, graciously provided by the Mpumalanga Provincial Government.

“She has been named the overall best learner in our province following the announcement of the 2024 National Senior Certificate Examination results, surpassing the 67,000 students who took the exam,” stated Mpumalanga MEC for Education Cathy Dlamini on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
“Her achievements are truly impressive. As a reward for her hard work, she has been awarded a full bursary from the provincial government, along with an exciting array of gifts that include laptops, microwaves, a bar fridge, an iron, and a breakfast pack.
“Additionally, she has received a brand-new car, also generously sponsored. This outstanding achievement clearly illustrates that hard work and dedication bring about rewards.”
This annual award aims to inspire and encourage matriculants to approach their education with seriousness and strive for excellence.
Gugu completed her 2024 National Senior Certificate Examination at Mphanama Secondary School in Middleburg, which falls under the jurisdiction of Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.
She excelled over more than 60,000 candidates to become the province’s top achiever.
MEC Dlamini expressed pride in her accomplishments as well as those of the class of 2024, which achieved an impressive provincial pass rate of 84.9%.
She remarked that the class of 2024 surpassed all expectations and goals.
