
The Scottish Premiership match between CELTIC and Dundee has been postponed due to the damage caused by Storm Eowyn.
Scotland faced winds reaching up to 100mph in an event being referred to as “the Storm of the Century.”
Celtic released a statement last night concerning the match, indicating that further assessments were needed after photos of damage at Parkhead emerged on social media.
The Scottish champions have now confirmed that the game is officially canceled in a club statement.
The statement read: “The Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Dundee, set for Celtic Park, has been postponed.
“Regrettably, due to the damage incurred at the stadium yesterday, we have been advised that today’s match cannot proceed.
“While this is certainly disappointing, the safety of our supporters is our top priority.”
Yesterday, Scotland was issued a red weather warning by the Met Office, advising residents to stay indoors.
This warning was subsequently downgraded to amber and then yellow, with the yellow warning lasting until 3pm today.
Images shared on the internet show debris scattered throughout Celtic Park.

Advertisements outside of the stadium were also torn apart by the strong winds.
Celtic has confirmed the match will be rescheduled for February 5, kicking off at 7:45pm.
Storm Eowyn has also caused damage at Rangers’ Ibrox stadium
Dundee has also issued a statement regarding the match.
The statement indicated: “Our William Hill Premiership match against Celtic, which was originally set for today, Saturday January 25, at 3pm, has been postponed due to the damage at Celtic Park caused by severe weather conditions.
“This match has been rearranged and will now occur on Wednesday, February 5, at 7:45pm.
“Tickets purchased for the original match will remain valid for the rescheduled game on February 5.”
Rangers’ Ibrox stadium has also faced damage from Storm Eowyn.
Philippe Clement’s team is still on schedule to play away this weekend, with their match against Dundee United set for Sunday at 12pm proceeding as planned.
Ross County’s Scottish Premiership match against Hibernian this afternoon is currently under review.
However, this Dingwall match is expected to continue as officials have assured that the safety measures are sufficient.
In other SPFL news, Arbroath’s game against Kelty Hearts has been canceled.
Additionally, Greenock Morton has reported “significant damage” to their home ground, Cappielow Park, although they are set to play away against Queens Park this coming weekend.
