Sasolburg – The 30th Sasol Sasolburg Marathon is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 29 March 2024.

This fast and flat marathon is a qualifying event for the Comrades, drawing over 3,000 runners from both South Africa and beyond each year.

On Thursday, 20 February 2025, Ntokozo Gcabashe, Senior Vice President at Sasol’s Sasolburg and Natref Operations, remarked, “Sasol is immensely proud to sponsor the cherished Sasol Sasolburg Marathon for three decades.”

Gcabashe further noted, “Our dedication to enhancing people’s lives is reflected in our sponsorships, which help us nurture potential and uplift communities.”

“By backing local events such as the Sasol Marathon, we invite both professional and amateur athletes from all over South Africa and neighboring regions to engage with our local community through competition.”

The marathon route begins at the DP de Villiers Stadium in Sasolburg, weaving through the Sasol One factory, Highveld Garden, and picturesque residential neighborhoods.

Runners can anticipate refreshment stations every 3 km, providing revitalizing drinks and snacks, manned by Sasol employees and local businesses.

The 42.2 km and 21.1 km races will kick off at 06:00 in front of DP de Villiers Stadium, while the 10 km race is set to commence at 06:15. The 5 km fun run will start a bit later at 06:30.
