Pretoria – A team of detectives from the South African Police Service’s National Organised Crime Investigation Narcotics Unit has seized a substantial quantity of scheduled medications, steroids, and various performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).
As reported by police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, the PEDs were found at a self-storage facility in Derdepoort on Wednesday, 5 March 2025.

Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk noted, “The estimated street value of the confiscated items is R15 million.”
“This accomplishment follows a recent success where the team dismantled a drug syndicate, leading to the arrest of six suspects on 11 February 2025.”

However, the charges against two of the apprehended individuals have been temporarily dropped.
“Subsequent investigations into the syndicate’s activities led the team to the identified storage unit,” stated Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk.
“Initial findings indicate that the syndicate was operating an online platform to sell and distribute scheduled medications, steroids, stimulants, and other illicit substances to customers.
“Ongoing investigations are currently underway.”
