
Johannesburg – The family of the highly regarded comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane has confirmed his passing on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the departure of Ebenhaezer Dibakwane, a beloved comedian, actor, and writer,” the family stated in an announcement to The Bulrushes.
“He was a treasured friend to many and will be remembered with great fondness for his distinctive humor, unique stand-up comedy style, and the joy he spread to audiences across South Africa.
Born in 1994, this gifted comedian rose to fame after winning the Savanna Comics’ Choice Newcomer of The Year Award.
Ebenhaezer further established his reputation by winning a second Savanna Comics’ Choice Award for Intermediate Comedian of The Year, accompanied by two additional nominations from the Comic’s Choice, highlighting his immense popularity and esteem within the industry.
“His writing skills were also recognized with a SAFTA nomination for Best Achievement in Scriptwriting,” the statement mentioned.
“Those fortunate enough to know Ebenhaezer held him dear, and his absence will be deeply felt.
“The Dibakwane family appreciates the support they have received during this difficult time. Details regarding memorial and funeral services will be provided in due course.”
