NSFAS Announces Confirmed Allowance Payments and Final Caps for 2025

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has declared the successful completion and distribution of allowance payments for the 2025 academic year. This initiative has been executed in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as well as the Post School Education and Training sector.

Limits and Distribution of NSFAS Allowances

The scheme has released a detailed overview of the allocations for both university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students, which also includes those with disabilities.

Payment Schedule and Compliance Requirements

NSFAS has confirmed that payments for TVET colleges commenced on 7 March, covering allowances for two months. An additional payment run is scheduled for 14 March, with a deadline for registration uploads on 10 March.

For universities, the second upfront payment from NSFAS was issued in early March, enabling institutions to distribute allowances for March to students by 7 March. Another payment is expected by the end of March 2025.

Institutions are reminded to upload valid registration information to prevent any disruptions. Moreover, students who have filed funding appeals are advised to submit their required documents within 30 days to avoid delays in funding decisions.

Furthermore, NSFAS has indicated that institutions looking to surpass the approved allowance limits must obtain written consent prior to processing any payments that exceed these established caps.
