Pretoria – The City of Tshwane’s Department of Water and Sanitation will proceed with the relocation of an existing water pipeline on Olievenhoutbosch Road and K220 in Louwlardia Extension 36 on Tuesday, 25 March 2025.
“This relocation is necessary to accommodate the road widening,” the City of Tshwane explained.
“The pipeline will be shifted within the new road reserve to facilitate maintenance activities.”
While efforts will be made to prevent disruptions to the water supply, the City of Tshwane has warned that some intermittent interruptions may occur between 08:00 and 18:00 in the following locations and business facilities:
- Louwlardia Extension 36, 38, 25, and 72
- Shoprite Checkers Distribution Centre
- Shoprite Checkers Office Park
- Woolworths Distribution Centre
The City of Tshwane encourages residents to adopt the following water conservation practices in their daily activities:
- Avoid watering or irrigating gardens with hoses or sprinklers between 06:00 and 18:00.
- Refrain from washing cars with hoses.
- Do not fill swimming pools, and residents are encouraged to utilize grey water for gardening and toilet flushing.
Residents should report any water leaks, burst pipes, and instances of water wastage.
Where possible, residents are advised to install water-saving devices and consider the following suggestions for conserving water:
- Install low-flow showerheads and tap aerators where feasible.
- Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.
- Plant indigenous or drought-resistant species in gardens.
- Clean driveways or patios with a broom instead of a hose.
- Collect rainwater for use in gardens or for washing vehicles.
- Cover swimming pools to reduce water evaporation.
- Prefer showers over baths.
- Turn off taps while brushing teeth or shaving.
- Regularly check toilets and faucets for leaks.
The City of Tshwane apologizes for any inconveniences caused by this road widening project.
