
Cape Town – The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has reported that a British Airways flight encountered an incident at Cape Town International Airport on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
In a statement released to The Bulrushes, ACSA noted: “The details of the incident fall under the airline’s jurisdiction, and we encourage the media to reach out to British Airways for further information.”
“Nevertheless, ACSA can confirm that all routine emergency procedures were swiftly and effectively implemented in line with international aviation safety regulations.”
“The event was classified as a Phase 2 emergency activation.”
The aircraft returned to Cape Town International Airport, which provides extensive operational support and services after hours, ensuring a well-coordinated and efficient response.
“ACSA’s emergency response teams, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, were quickly mobilized to manage the situation and support affected passengers,” the statement added.
“We are pleased to inform that the incident was managed without any injuries or harm, prioritizing safety throughout the occurrence.”
“The aircraft has been assessed and confirmed as serviceable. Its departure has been rescheduled in compliance with required crew rest regulations.”
