Reward of R350,000 Offered for Missing Constables: Police Leadership Provides Investigation Update to Families

Johannesburg – Authorities have announced the establishment of a multi-disciplinary team to find three missing constables, with a reward of R350,000 offered for information that leads to their recovery.

The officers, identified as 20-year-old Constable Boipelo Senoge, 24-year-old Cebekhulu Linda, and 30-year-old Keamogetswe Buys, were traveling from the Free State to Limpopo when they vanished.

Two of the missing constables are part of the South African Police Service (SAPS) crime intelligence unit based in the Free State, currently on a temporary assignment in Limpopo.

The youngest officer, Senoge, is stationed at the Park Road police station, serving in the Community Service Centre, formerly known as the charge office.

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, senior officials from the South African Police Service (SAPS) — including National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola, Deputy National Commissioner of Crime Detection Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, and Provincial Commissioner of Free State Lieutenant General Baile Motsweenyane — met with the families of the missing constables.

General Masemola stated: “We have provided the families with updates on the extensive investigation currently underway.”

He added: “We are deeply concerned by the disappearance of our personnel.

“This is certainly an unusual event for us, and we will not stop until we achieve a breakthrough in this matter.

“We are now in day four of our investigation into the disappearance of our three officers.”

General Masemola noted that the specialized team tasked with finding the missing constables includes leaders from intelligence and detectives throughout Limpopo, Free State, and Gauteng.

He revealed that the larger team features highly skilled and experienced police officers from various SAPS divisions, including seasoned expert detectives, crime and counter-intelligence specialists, as well as members from the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (Hawks) Tactical Operations and Management Section, along with other specialized units like the cybercrime unit.

“We have mobilized our utmost resources to ensure the safe, unharmed, and alive return of our young officers, which remains our primary goal,” General Masemola declared.

“The second focus of our investigation is to identify those responsible for the disappearance of these officers.

“We are confident that we have deployed the necessary resources and expertise to ensure we locate our personnel.

“Our investigation is currently at a highly sensitive and critical stage, and all information at our disposal is being pursued diligently. As I speak, I have left this high-level team in Gauteng, where they continue their work.”

General Masemola underscored that police will not allow a situation where criminals hold the upper hand.

“We cannot permit criminals to undermine state authority by abducting three police officers.

“This serves as a strong warning to those involved in this incident: surrender, or we will come for you.”
