Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have discovered their opponents for the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers, as revealed in the draw that took place on Tuesday morning.
The Brazilians, who have clinched the CAF Women’s Champions League title twice, will host the qualifiers in Johannesburg from August 22 to 31, 2025. They are placed in Group A, along with Ntopwa Ladies from Malawi, Zesco Ndola Girls from Zambia, and Beauties from Malawi.
As a prominent team in this tournament, Sundowns Ladies boast a distinguished history, having won the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2021 and 2023.
Banyana Ba Style has participated in every edition of the Champions League, highlighting their supremacy in African women’s football.
This year, Sundowns Ladies aim to make a significant comeback to the tournament after being eliminated in 2024, where they were eliminated alongside their main rivals, UWC Ladies, who emerged victorious in the COSAFA qualifiers.
Regrettably for UWC, they will not be taking part in this year’s Champions League, leaving Sundowns as the only representative.
Group B will include Gaborone United Ladies from Botswana, Young Buffaloes from Eswatini, and Kick4Life from Lesotho.
Conversely, Group C features Herentals Queen from Zimbabwe, Despotos from Mozambique, and Olympic De Moroni from Comoros.
The tournament format allows the top three teams from each group to proceed to the semifinals, along with one team chosen as the best runner-up.
