Wood brings over two decades of expertise in the South African hospitality and leisure sector, having most recently departed from an executive role at JSE-listed Sun International. He formerly held an executive position in the hotels division of the now-separated Tsogo Sun Holdings, which divided into Tsogo Sun Limited and Southern Sun Limited (hotels division) a few years ago.
“Wood, the former Chief Operations Officer of Hospitality at Sun International, offers substantial experience in property, hospitality, and tourism,” remarked Dr. Shirley Zinn, chair of the V&A Waterfront, in a statement.
“He played a key role in repositioning Sun City Resort and improving the overall performance of hotels, resorts, and casinos within the organization,” she added.
Several sources had previously informed Moneyweb about Wood’s anticipated appointment to the top position at the V&A, but management and Wood refrained from confirming it at that time.

“The board is confident that Wood will lead the V&A Waterfront into its next growth stage and expressed appreciation to Green for his visionary leadership, which has established the Waterfront as South Africa’s leading mixed-use development and most popular tourist destination,” stated Zinn.
