The 36-year-old was thrown off his horse, Sunny Swing, during the Prix Jack Barbe hurdle race on Sunday.
De Giles fell to the ground after Sunny Swing stumbled over a jump.
He sustained several serious injuries from the incident, including two fractured legs and a broken arm.
Additionally, he fractured his femur and dislocated his hip.
He is currently recuperating in a Paris hospital.
It is anticipated that De Giles will be sidelined for approximately six months.
From his hospital room, he remarked: “My arm doesn’t hurt too badly, but my legs are quite swollen.
“Unfortunately, I was aware of everything happening during the fall.
“I could see that my right leg was broken, but I can’t remember how both legs were injured. They managed to repair everything in one surgery, addressing my arm, both legs, and hip. I hope this will be the final surgery I’ll need.

“I need to remain lying down for three weeks.
“Due to the hip injury, I can’t sit up in a wheelchair, and I’m uncertain if I’ll stay here or be moved to a closer hospital. That choice is still to be made.
“I likely would have contended for the jockeys’ title [that ends on January 31] as I usually perform well at Cagnes and Pau during winter, but that’s merely a thought of the past.”
