Wesley Fofana Addresses Injury Struggles After Limping Off Against Aston Villa

WESLEY FOFANA has alleviated concerns about his injury following his exit during Chelsea’s victory over Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old French defender started in the 4-1 triumph at Villa Park but appeared to be limping when he was substituted by Liam Rosenior in the 79th minute on Wednesday.

Fofana’s swift exit into the tunnel raised alarms among Chelsea fans.

However, the former Leicester defender reassured everyone about a potential new injury post-match.

In reply to an X post implying he “looks injured,” Fofana responded in French: “Hey, I ain’t got nothin’ at all.”

He also addressed a similar post in English, stating: “Huh? I have nothing.”

Another injury for Fofana would have been a major setback for Chelsea.

This one-cap French international has faced many hurdles since suffering a leg fracture at Leicester in 2021.

That injury sidelined him for over seven months, yet Chelsea went on to pay £70 million for him the following year.

Since joining Stamford Bridge, his injury problems have compounded.

An ACL tear in 2023 kept Fofana out for an entire year, and his return was soon followed by two additional three-month absences.

Fofana’s 17 Premier League appearances this season mark his highest total in a single season as a Chelsea player.

Manager Rosenior will be eager to keep him healthy as the season progresses.

The Blues currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League, likely securing a Champions League spot, with sixth-placed Liverpool closely behind on goal difference.
