Malema Defamation Case: Arrest Warrant Issued for Ngizwe Mchunu

Johannesburg – A warrant for the arrest of Ngizwe Mchunu has been issued. He is the leader of the anti-immigrant organization, Amabhinca Nation.

Earlier, the court ruled that Mchunu’s statements regarding Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, were both defamatory and illegal.

The court required Mchunu to issue a public apology.

Nevertheless, he refused to comply and continued to make derogatory remarks about Malema.

In a ruling delivered today, Friday, June 6, 2026, the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, stated: “Ngizwe Mchunu is found guilty of contempt of court” for “intentionally and unlawfully republishing statements” that had already been deemed defamatory.

“A warrant for Mr. Mchunu’s arrest has been issued, leading to his detention for a duration of 10 days,” according to the ruling.

Furthermore, Mchunu has been ordered to pay the legal costs.

However, he may avoid this punishment if he simply apologizes to Malema.

“The arrest warrant and detention will be suspended solely upon Mr. Mchunu’s issuance of a complete apology to the Court on social media platforms where he has been active for the past six months, uploaded to Caselines, and without repeating the controversial statements,” the court mandated.
