Geertruida fell to the ground, crying out in pain, which alarmed his fellow teammates.

Weghorst swiftly approached to ensure he was alright and helped him to his feet.

Fortunately, the player on loan from Sunderland was able to continue participating in the training session.

A video capturing the incident was shared on social media, eliciting various reactions from fans.

One fan remarked: “Weghorst simply doesn’t switch to ‘friendly’ mode. That was an intense tackle during training.”

Another commented: “Going for a full slide tackle on a teammate in what is supposed to be a light training session is absurd, but the manager will probably commend his zeal and intensity as always.”

Weghorst has yet to take the field for the Dutch national team in the ongoing World Cup.

He was benched for the 2-2 draw against Japan last weekend and the 5-1 victory over Sweden on Saturday.
