Five Lives Lost in Head-On Collision Near Perdekop and Amersfoort

On Thursday evening, a devastating head-on crash on the P97 Road between Perdekop and Amersfoort in Mpumalanga claimed the lives of five men.

The accident involved a light motor vehicle and a sports utility vehicle (SUV). Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, where all five passengers were declared dead.

Furthermore, four individuals sustained severe injuries and were transported to the hospital for care.

Mpumalanga MEC Advocates for Improved Road Safety Initiatives

Jackie Macie, Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security, and Liaison, has called on motorists to practice safe driving to help reduce road fatalities.

“Our roads have unfortunately become dangerous zones largely due to human behavior,” Macie remarked.

“We urge all road users to actively participate in the government’s road safety campaigns to preserve lives. It is also vital to enhance strategies against reckless driving to bolster our road safety efforts.”
