Queiroz, formerly Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant at Manchester United, was appointed in April after the dismissal of Otto Addo.
Tuchel provided a glimpse of what to expect and set the stage for his pre-match remarks.
The former Chelsea manager stated: “We received a message from a respected colleague after Ghana changed their coach.
“He said, ‘Your biggest challenge will be the second game. Take my word for it’.

“We must respect the challenge before us, yet have faith in our players.
“Yet another compact defense with a varied formation awaits us. A back five seems likely.
“At points, we could even see a back six or seven throughout the match.
“Our goal is to overload specific zones and quickly transition once we create these overloads.
“However, no overloads were achieved against Ghana, and we may face a similar struggle against Panama.
“It’s common to encounter hurdles against such defensive strategies. Still, we aimed to be proactive and felt we did enough to secure a win against Ghana.
“We had numerous counterattacks to handle, but fell short effectively on two occasions, almost costing us.”
Tuchel continued: “I haven’t yet found the solution: ‘If they do this, we respond like that, and everything will go smoothly’.
“We encourage our players to engage in one-on-one situations and also two-on-two, three-on-three, or even four-on-four.”
“Even if we shift four players to one side, they will respond with four of their own. This creates a six-against-six situation even during a switch of play.
“It’s difficult to accelerate the game’s pace against these low blocks, as observed in both the Champions League and the Premier League.
“It only takes a moment of brilliance and a bit more accuracy in our deliveries.
“We need to refine our timing and awareness with crosses. That is the half-chance we must capitalize on.
“Who is making the most of the delivery? Are we attacking the ball aggressively enough? How can we create more opportunities from distance, potentially through deflections that lead to goals? This is what we must concentrate on.”
England has received criticism following their 3-1 loss in a friendly against Senegal last year at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.
Tuchel’s squad also faced backlash after narrowly winning 1-0 against Andorra and a 2-0 victory against the same team at Villa Park.
Amid the fluctuating fortunes of the World Cup, Tuchel seeks to maintain a level-headed viewpoint.
He stated, “The highs should not soar too high, and the lows should not plummet too low. The game against Ghana wasn’t a low point.”
“I’ve experienced similar matches in Champions League group stages against teams like Copenhagen or Leipzig.
“You can feel that they will celebrate their duels and counter-attacks.
“When they move past the halfway line, it almost feels like a goal celebration for them. That’s how it felt with Ghana — they celebrated the 0-0 draw like a victory.
“However, we were left somewhat unsatisfied.
“We aim to take a proactive and assertive approach against Panama while avoiding naivety or recklessness.
“It was tough in the games against Andorra, but I was pleased with our showing in the second match. Everyone is now well-prepared, and Ghana proved to be a formidable opponent.”
Furthermore, Tuchel urges England to harness their emotions rather than being “cold as ice.”
The Three Lions can secure the top spot in Group L with a decisive win.
Tuchel has also cautioned his players against retaliating to rough tactics to avoid potential red cards.
He remarked: “Emotional play is vital; we can’t afford to be cold as ice. We strive for passion in our play — but we must not get sidetracked or engaged in heated exchanges, as that would only benefit the underdog.
“We did well against Ghana; it’s essential to play emotionally against physical teams; otherwise, we risk feeling like the victims.
“We have to support each other while keeping a balanced approach.”
TUCHEL FACES ENGLAND DILEMMA
THOMAS TUCHEL has called out his England players for their ineffectiveness on the left side during the World Cup.
This critique extends to defenders Nico O’Reilly and Djed Spence, both of whom have played as left-backs, along with left-wingers Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford.
Tuchel, whose team will face Panama on Saturday, noted that his players have yet to “click” on the left side.
He commented: “It’s more about the left-side unit than individual performances; it’s not merely about ‘the winger didn’t perform well enough.’ The left-side unit hasn’t matched the quality exhibited against Costa Rica in the warm-up game.
“They were outstanding. After that game, I thought, ‘Fantastic, the left side is sorted; this unit has good chemistry’.
“Marcus joined the left side alongside Ebs (Eze) and Djed Spence, and they were excellent together. I thought, ‘Now we have two units that understand their roles and complement each other’.
“However, in the first match, they weren’t connecting as I had hoped. I can’t pinpoint why, but there was a lack of cohesion, penetration, and vertical movement, which persisted into the second match.
“I’m unsure about the reason. I still believe in each of them and think they will get better. Marcus can be impactful off the bench; sometimes, it helps to have him as a substitute.
“He struggled to influence the play from the start, but from the bench, he regularly makes a big impact.”
Gordon, who had a tough outing in the first match against Croatia, was substituted by Rashford, who went on to score in a 4-2 victory.
The Manchester United winger, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona, missed a training session due to a slight hamstring issue and came on for Gordon in the 83rd minute of the goalless draw with Ghana.
In the second match, Spence replaced O’Reilly, though Tuchel chastised him for not pushing forward enough.
Regarding Rashford, Tuchel remarked: “Marcus is performing well, but when he started (against New Zealand), he wasn’t as effective as Anthony; that’s just the truth. We had an excellent match against Costa Rica with Anthony and that group.
“I know we’ve frequently talked about Rashford, and you may question, ‘You trust him so much, but what does he bring?’. That’s valid, but he gives everything, is present, and works tirelessly; he still remains in contention for a starting spot. However, the left side as a unit, regardless of who plays, must improve its collaboration and become more threatening.”
