Pretoria – President Cyril Ramaphosa met with His Majesty King Misuzulu Zulu at the Official Presidential Residence, Mahlamba Ndlopfu, in Tshwane to discuss the government’s approach to managing migration in South Africa.
This meeting was held in preparation for the anticipated protests scheduled for Tuesday, 30 June 2026, which focus on addressing illegal migration.
The dialogue between President Ramaphosa and King Misuzulu is part of the government’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders and social partners concerning migration policy.
During their conversation, President Ramaphosa emphasized the state’s responsibility to enforce immigration laws and made it clear that no person is authorized to ask another for documentation or proof of nationality.
Moreover, President Ramaphosa encouraged the King to promote peaceful demonstrations among those against illegal immigration.
The South African Police Service has reassured citizens that they are executing contingency plans to safeguard lives and property during the forthcoming protest, amidst fears of potential violence.
Over the weekend, President Ramaphosa held a similar meeting with other royal leaders at Mahlamba Ndlopfu.
He underscored the crucial leadership role that royalty has in South Africa, especially within local communities.
Additionally, he expressed awareness of community concerns regarding persistent challenges like high unemployment, poverty, and economic difficulties.
