KEY INFORMATION

How many British players remain in the tournament?

There was good news on Tuesday, June 30.

Katie Swan became the first British singles winner of the Championships, defeating Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4, 6-4.

However, the celebration was brief when Katie Boulter lost 6-4, 6-2 to Italian qualifier Tyra Caterina Grant.

This left Swan as the sole British woman still in the singles draw.

Eight British singles players started the day, but Harry Wendelken was the first man out, losing 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 to France’s Valentin Royer.

Wildcard Pinnington Jones resumed his interrupted match but ultimately fell 6-3, 7-6(7-5), 7-5 to 28th seed Brandon Nakashima.

As of 2:30 PM on Tuesday, June 30, six British singles players remained in the tournament.

These include Swan, Jacob Fearnley, Arthur Fery, Toby Samuel, Jan Choinski, and Billy Harris.

The five men were all participating in first-round matches that day, so the numbers may change as results come in.

Swan will next compete against the winner of Kayla Day vs. 26th seed Madison Keys.

Who has the best chance for Grand Slam success?

None of the remaining Brits at Wimbledon 2026 hold seedings.

With Norrie, Draper, Raducanu, and now Boulter out, Britain’s top players have exited the singles competition.

The remaining men are all seen as underdogs, ranked outside the world’s top 100.

Meanwhile, Swan, currently ranked No. 196, is carrying the hopes of British women’s singles into the second round.
