England’s head coach Thomas Tuchel might face a suspension following the World Cup due to controversial remarks aimed at a referee.
At 52, Tuchel is preparing to lead the Three Lions in a pivotal semi-final match against the defending world champions, Argentina, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
As reported by The Athletic, the German coach could be handed a suspension as soon as next week once the tournament wraps up, as per FIFA regulations.
The former Chelsea manager criticized referee Alireza Faghani after a red card was issued to Jarell Quansah during England’s 3-2 victory against Mexico in the round of 16.
Tuchel stated: “This is completely unacceptable. The referee can send players off at any moment. The decisions are erratic and unpredictable during matches.”
“Now we have two fourth officials shouting at you for simply stepping a bit outside the coaching area. This is intolerable.”

Tuchel isn’t the only one under investigation; Switzerland’s Manuel Akanji and Egypt’s Hossam Hassan are also subject to potential disciplinary measures.
Both Hassan, 59, and Akanji, 30, have openly criticized referees following their respective exits against Argentina in the last-16 and quarter-finals.
The Egypt manager denounced referee Francois Letexier for a controversial decision to disallow Mostafa Ziko’s goal for offside.
Similarly, the former Manchester City player lambasted referee Joao Pinheiro, claiming that “everything” appeared to be against Switzerland.
