Pretoria – The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant is currently non-operational due to problems with the high-lift pumps, which is affecting the plant’s performance.
“Technical teams are actively on-site, working tirelessly to finalize the necessary repairs and bring the plant back to full operational status as quickly and safely as possible,” the City of Tshwane announced in a brief statement on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.
The impacted areas include Bronkhorstspruit Town, Zithobeni, Ekangala, Rethabiseng, and some sections of the Thembisile Hani Local Municipality.
“Currently, there is no estimated timeline for when operations will resume,” the statement added.
“The city is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.”
“The City of Tshwane apologizes for the inconvenience this has caused and appreciates the understanding, patience, and cooperation of the affected residents.”
