Johannesburg – Rachel Chinouriri has announced that her highly anticipated second album “I think I spoke too soon” will debut on Friday, 16th October 2026 via Parlophone/Atlas Artists.
The English singer-songwriter of Zimbabwean descent also introduces the album’s lead single “One song away from crying,” a lively synth-pop anthem that captures the essence of a dancefloor amid uncertainty.
“She’s never looked better, and she’s never felt worse,” Rachel sings.
The music video, directed by Dora Paphides, portrays Rachel escaping a party she longs to leave, stepping into a surreal, dreamlike realm.
“‘One song away from crying’ delves into that instant during a night out when you realize it’s time to go, presenting a difficult choice,” Rachel explains.
“It’s a profound decision; it goes beyond the outing, reflecting an internal conflict about your self-worth.”

“I think I spoke too soon” picks up from where Rachel Chinouriri’s acclaimed 2024 debut album “What A Devastating Turn of Events” left off, showcasing a significant evolution in her unique alt indie pop style.
The album was developed across London, Hereford, and Los Angeles with both familiar (APOB, Mary Weitz, Glen Roberts, and Daniel Hylton-Nuamah) and new collaborators (including Lucy Dacus and Eli Teplin).
We’ve all experienced that solitary bathroom moment at a gathering, when you catch your reflection and feel momentarily lost in an existential whirlpool.
“I think I spoke too soon” is a journey through that reflective lens of the proverbial bathroom mirror; an exploration of how, at times, we can see ourselves splintering into myriad versions, paths, and choices.
This album provides a vividly surreal glimpse behind the curtain of notable years in Rachel’s life, narrated through the lens of one pivotal “Big Night Out.”
The lead single “One song away from crying” establishes the tone for an upcoming revelation; a glossy synth-pop opener infused with the familiar feeling of wanting to cry in the club but pushing through regardless.
A tumultuous yet enchanting experience that can loop (or perhaps spiral) endlessly, the album presents a kind of night that can reset your entire perspective and reveal new truths about yourself.

Rachel has also announced a series of headline shows to celebrate the launch of “I think I spoke too soon”, with performances scheduled in Los Angeles, New York, Dublin, London, Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Sydney, and Melbourne in the upcoming months. Next month, she’ll be part of Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival, marking her as the only British artist on the lineup.
She is also confirmed as support for Gracie Abrams’ North American arena tour, joining a seven-show run this December.
This year, Rachel has also opened for Florence + The Machine on their US and Ireland arena tour, performed alongside Wolf Alice at London’s Finsbury Park, and delivered standout performances at Governors Ball, All Things Go Toronto, and Bonnaroo festivals.
Rachel has firmly cemented her status as one of the UK’s most promising young songwriters, leading a new wave of indie pop stars with her emotive and insightful lyrics alongside dynamic sonic landscapes.
The release of the London-born artist’s 2024 debut album “What A Devastating Turn of Events” earned her two BRIT Award nominations – Artist Of The Year and Best New Artist – following earlier nominations at the Ivor Novello Awards and BBC Sound Of.
Rachel was recently recognized at the O2 Silver Clef Awards.
