Argentinian provocateur Valentin Barco is poised to be warmly welcomed by English fans whenever he takes the field for Chelsea this season.
The spirited, red-haired player, known for an incident with Jude Bellingham during the World Cup semi-final where he was slapped for his antics, is accustomed to navigating controversy.
At just 22, Barco may rely on fellow countryman and fellow troublemaker Enzo Fernandez to help manage the media spotlight.

Venezuela’s Bryant Ortega was less fortunate when Barco encountered issues during an Olympic qualifying match in February 2024.
After a foul, Barco hurled the ball at another player, Rafael Uzcategui, hitting him on the head.
Ortega retaliated on his teammate’s behalf, leading to both players being issued red cards.

Strasbourg had another successful season, reaching the semi-finals of both the Conference League and the French Cup.
The only stain on Barco’s record was a red card for a reckless challenge on Lens’ Morgan Guilavogui last November.
